Orange County, California Resident Charged in Elder Sex Abuse Case

OCWeekly.com is reporting that a 62-year-old in-home caregiver has been arraigned on charges of felony sexual penetration by a foreign object and force. Robert Ligayo, a licensed caregiver for Salus Home Care, plead not guilty and was being held on $100,000 bail.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the 66-year-old victim and Ligayo admitted to the abuse during the investigation. Investigators fear that Ligayo, who has been a licensed caregiver since 2001 and has worked for other companies, may have victimized other seniors and are asking anyone with information to call the OC Sheriff’s Dept. at (714)647-7000 or OC Crimestoppers at (855)847-6227.

Ligayo faces up to eight years in prison and sex offender registration if he is convicted.
