How to Identify a Victim of Elder Abuse

The Glenner Memory Care Centers posted an excellent article by Alan Brady entitled “How to Protect Your Loved One in a Nursing Home.” It lists common warning signs of elder abuse victims.

Bed sores, bruises, or cuts are typically found on abuse victims, while neglect is commonly identified by malnourishment or dehydration, failure to bathe, or a change in demeanor. If a loved one is in a home, these signs can often be seen in other residents and may indicate a systematic problem with the facility.

Families of nursing home victims should speak with a staff supervisor and consult with an elder abuse attorney.
