Florida Nursing Home Owner Arrested for Abuse

Mistreatment of residents, failure to provide beds, restraining residents with handcuffs; these are the allegations facing Priscilla Smith Johnson. Johnson runs a small nursing home with 10 residents in Williston, Florida.

Johnson was arrested after a joint investigation of the Florida Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office charged her with neglect of a disabled adult, false imprisonment, aggravated abuse, and exploitation.

Johnson could face of up to 60 years in prison and $40,000 in fines. Her bail was set at $205,000.
